For boys and girls there are some great urban images to give their space an edgy vibe. From London underground signs to traffic lights they can create a little bit of the city in the bedroom. If they are hankering after a New York state of mind there are fire hydrants and skyscrapers to transport them to the Big Apple. If their style is more Parisian chic there are gorgeous decals of Parisian rooftops to bring some VaVa Voom to their lives. These come in a variety of colours but look particularly striking in black. This may prove a good compromise if you don t want them to go black all over!
A wall stickers adhesive, whilst strong is also quite gentle and leaves no residue so they can be applied to furniture without fear of damaging its finish if you change your mind. We re always being told we can jazz up our kitchen with new cupboard doors as if that costs a fiver and takes ten minutes to order and fit but how about some stickers instead? There are many architectural designs available that would be suitable for just such a setting and one large design could easily be cut into pieces to cover several doors. Once again it will look very stylish and won t break the bank.
The effect on our lonely life here at Snow Station Tapir has been dramatic. Dave shaved for one thing, the Chinese guy stopped crying all the time and Buzz Collins now only rocks backwards and forwards on his haunches if you forget to give him the blue mug. On Thursdays we dress for dinner (seal) and on Saturday afternoons after we ve taken the ice measurements (yup, still there) we play deck quoits in Maintenance Bay D.
Girls always try to do something unique with their rooms, whether we look at the cabinets, study tables, beds or the walls. Everything that a girl does or puts up at her place would have to be perfectly as per her taste. It is completely contrary to boys who would rather spend their time not bothering about coordinating their room, and usually make more knee-jerk decisions on what they want to put up or take down.
